I'VE MOVED!
After a hugely successful final sale in my Bow studio last summer, and several near misses along the way, I finally got down to Brighton last autumn ........... no studio built yet but I'm staving off the frustration with a bit of improvisation in the kitchen and busy printing in preparation for another Barbican exhibition in May.
But
why printmaking? ........ To be honest, I was hooked from the
moment I first pulled a squeegee across a screen and marvelled
at that glorious expanse of colour. I enjoy the fact that, rather
like life, while careful planning is essential, one must always
be prepared for the unexpected or accidental, which often produces
the most exciting results.
Interestingly,
although I didn't notice to start with, the process and my chosen
subject matter have similarities: my prints are built up with
many layers of over - printed colour, echoing the organic way
a city evolves, with each generation and tribe adding to what
has gone before.
